This is a really durable tent! Only thing I didn’t like was that the overhang on the front is very low! I’m 5’7″ and even putting 4×4 blocks under the poles my head still hits and I can’t stand up straight. The whole point to a tent like this is the ability to stand up! Also the instructions need some work.

  2. Gary

Hi Chad, thanks for your review. I have shared your call out with our factory. The overhang area is designed as a seating area. One of the reasons is that the higher it is, the more difficult to keep shaded. We also have improved instructions and a video in the works.

  3. Nate

No question the best tent on the market. I have used many tents but the quality of this canvas and other parts is superior. At last a tent that is spacious . I can stand upright and move around freely. A definite 5 stars.

  4. Jim Canfield

Fantastic tent. Even better customer service from Buschtec. I originally ordered this tent on Amazon but they canceled the order due to an inventory error. Even though this wasn’t a Bushtec problem, they worked with me directly and made sure my order was completed and even threw in two of the big boy budget chairs for the trouble.

The tent is built extremely well. I was able to setup by myself after figuring out I could rotate the frame to lower overall height. The only issue I had was the awning poles. The tips are slightly over-sized for the brass grommets. I ended up filing them down slightly and they fit well now. It’s also a good idea to wrap each leg of the X frame separately when packing to avoid a tangled mess when unpacking. I used double sided velcro to wrap them all together.

I’m going to be 70 and when i bought this tent a year ago my biggest concern was , could i set it up by myself. It took a couple of tries. And then I figuratively out the trick. (Put the end poles in the corner holes first) After i laided everything out it takes about 15 minutes. Not hard at all. The best part is you soon realize you have a quality tent. This is the best tent i have ever owned. On my last trip ,my wife and i went through a terrible storm . Steady winds of 40mph and gust of 55mph. It’s stood up and was awesome. I’m so impressed. Yes the best tent ever. Thank you for the great service,

  6. Gary

Thanks Steve for the great review. We are proud of our quality!

  7. Shane Bach

I purchased these tents 2 years ago after diligent research. I wanted a canvas tent and my wife wanted a tent with a floor. These tents were our answer. The best of both worlds. We camp for two weeks out of the year in September or October. We endured a windstorm in central Oklahoma, sadly our eureka timberline tent did not. Thus began the search. I found Bushtec tents. I was a little hesitant at first but soon found you get what you pay for. After a little confusion with the instructions we were able to successfully erect the tent. [The tent body corner S hooks hooked at the bottom of the tent poles and the poles served as stakes.] We have been through several storms since and are completely satisfied. Some storms have had high winds but not like the two day wind storm that blew my timberline down but I am completely confident that these tents would hold. Now on to customer service, 5 star, gold level interaction. Gary is the best, simply said. Bushtec stands behind their products and he is the man that represents the company. If you are still wondering if I would recommend this product, let me be perfectly clear. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed. That being said there are some learning curves when it comes to switching from backpacking type tents to canvas {weight, don’t touch the tent sides} after adjusting to these it will be hard for me to go back. If you made it this far thanks for listening to my long winded review. There is no doubt the tent would make it through. ha!

Purchased a Kilo 4000 recently direct from Bushtec-great service. Great quality, true 4-season durable shelter. I will be using mine for Winter and longer term car-camping. It was set up by one person, but was somewhat difficult the first time around, The directions for setup are OK, but could be better and more detailed (A manufacturer setup video would be highly recommended). The rain-fly is heavy duty and equally durable. It is also the veranda\awning, which was no problem getting set up. I believe the awning was well thought out-it slopes down slightly to maximize door-way shade and will assist in pushing rain water away from the entrance location. .

I bought this tent back in May 2020, for my annual elk hunt to Logan Canyon , Utah in October 2020. Well, I just returned and here’s the run down; my experience. The first few days were very calm with this tent. Typical weather, no rain or wind just cold. The next week brought snow and very heavy winds! Again the tent did very well, especially in regards to the heavy winds. I did wake up a few times during the night, due to the sleet pounding on the tent. However, the tent stayed standing. The only thing I would like to see ADDED is to have a way to totally seal/close the tent. The opening of the tent doesn’t totally seal, the front bottom zipper/flap just kind of covers the opening. When the heavy winds came, I did feel some cold air come into the tent, but it was manageable with my wool blankets. I would HIGHLY recommend this tent for cold weather hunting. It is, by far, the best tent I have ever owned. Additionally, I was in Utah for 16 days!

I’ve used these heavy canvas tents for years here in Africa. On a new farm, deep in the bush, we lived in these for a year! 3 inches of rain on a few nights was no problem. Keep them closed up to keep insects, reptiles etc. out during the day. Perfection would be a 3rd window in the back panel.
